The precursors of sphingosine in brain tissue.

چکیده
The establishment (1) of the structure of sphingosine as a 1,2-hydroxyamine, C&H27. CH=CH . CHOH . CHNHn. CH20H, has prompted a study of its formation in nervous tissue from compounds involved in the biosynthesis of ethanolamine (2, 3). It was found that glycine is incorporated into carbon atoms 1 and 2, probably by way of serine, which was found to be the most effective precursor of the same portion of the molecule. The carboxyl group of serine is lost in this process. The remainder of the carbon chain appears to be formed from acetate (cf. (4)).

High Expression of Sphingosine Kinase 1 in Estrogen and Progesterone Receptors-Negative Breast Cancer
Background & objective: Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer related death in females. Sphingosine kinase 1 (SPHK1) and its product sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) are the essential key regulator molecules in breast cancer through their ability to promote cell proliferation, angiogenesis, cell proliferation, and lymphagiogenesis. SPHK1 i...
متن کاملSphingosine 1-phosphate dependence in the regulation of lymphocyte trafficking to the gut epithelium
It is well established that intraepithelial T lymphocytes (IELs) are derived from conventional single-positive (SP) thymocytes, as well as unconventional double-negative (DN) thymocytes and CD103+CD8alphabeta recent thymic emigrants (RTEs). We show that IELs can be divided into two groups according to their dependency on sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P) for trafficking into the intestines. CD4 or ...
متن کاملPlasma paraoxonase, sphingosine-1-phosphate, total sialic acid, and heat shock protein-27 in the liver of the sheep naturally infected with Cysticercus tenuicollis: Evidence on pathological changes
The present study aimed to investigate whether sphingosine 1 phosphate (S1P), paraoxonase (PON), total sialic acid (TSA), and heat shock protein-27 (HSP27) are altered in the sheep during infection of the liver with Cysticercus tenuicollis. This study was conducted on40 healthy sheep and40 sheep with Cysticercus tenuicollis infection. The infected and non-infected animals were selected based on...
متن کاملMigration of germline progenitor cells is directed by sphingosine-1-phosphate signalling in a basal chordate
The colonial ascidian Botryllus schlosseri continuously regenerates entire bodies in an asexual budding process. The germ line of the newly developing bodies is derived from migrating germ cell precursors, but the signals governing this homing process are unknown. Here we show that germ cell precursors can be prospectively isolated based on expression of aldehyde dehydrogenase and integrin alph...
متن کاملDifferent reactions of different magnetic temperatures of brain tissue in the face of mobile radiofrequency waves
Background: The widespread use of cell phones has led to an increase in concern about the effect of radiofrequency radiation on the physiology of the human body. This study was conducted to determine the different reaction temperatures of different brain tissue in exposure to mobile radiofrequency waves. Method: This was an experimental study. The cowchr('39')s brain tissue was examined in a c...
